Among the many effects, in this study effect of social media on depression and tendency for violence were chosen. Survey method was used in this study. Accordingly, in order to understand the differences exist between the social media users and not users, same amount of two different groups were targeted (users and not users). In the analysis frst, points allocated to Beck’s Depression Scale and Scale of Violence Tendency were compared and contrasted between the users and not users of social media. Following to this, correlaton analysis was used to determine the possible relatonship exist between the hours spend in social media and depression and violence tendency. Results indicated that social media usage increases the depression and violence tendency. Hours spend in social media also has a positve relaton with depression and violence tendency. Therefore, it can be said that social media usage heavily effect the society’s psychological health and increases the violence among the society. },author={ -Adem AKARSU},year={2016},journal={Toplum Bilimleri Dergisi}}
