Abstract

Self-actualizaton, which implies human’s discovery of it’s existng potental, has been treated as the highest goal of human endeavor and the ultmate moral target. It has also been identfed through the concepts of integraton, individualizaton, being oneself and psychological health. Espiciallay, it has been observed that the process of self-actualizaton, progresses within three complementary formaton which also affect each other. These propertes, which are elementary human needs and providing soluton for many existental problems, can be summarized as “reaching personal integrity” and “realizing one’s potental” and “peak experiences”. The fact that these propertes also represent religious values, was an inspiraton for researching self-actualizaton process and making this study. Studies show that individuals who achieve selfactualizaton are mentally healthy, happy, mature, feeling affecton and empathy for humanity, extremely rich in spiritual life. When we observe the mater in Islamic traditon, we see that knowing, discovering oneself and actualizing human side was highly valued. In Sufsm consolidaton represents individual’s spiritual growth, conscious reconstructon and purifcaton process. As the inseparable propertes of humans mental health, happiness and maturity are considered, then it is realized that self-actualizaton concept has a religious property as well as psychological. In this respect, in this work, human’s selfactualizaton process has been investgated in relaton with happiness which is it’s natural extension, through the perspectve of psychology of religion.
