Abstract

The aim of this study is to atempt analyzing the novel which is a kind of literary texts through the lenses of parameters in the sociology of religion. In other words, the discipline of sociology of religion has targeted to unfold the narratve flow of events. The unfolded text is Kar writen by Orhan Pamuk. In order to analyze this text, frstly, the role of novel is described then the place of it in the sociological feld is tried to be pointed. Afer that, religious typologies of gender are analyzed by the semiological perspectve of Barthes and the concepts of these constructed typologies are deduced. The representaton of religious typologies in the case study are tested and interrogated in terms of social reality. As a result, it is discerned that the constructon of religious typologies of gender in the case study is related to the residue derived from the writer’s habitus. It can be argued that the case study of Kar, as a social text expected to be a mirror, is not approaching to the zero degree of writng.
