Thus, the dialectc micro-level impacts and responses between religion and social structures and the religious life and worldly lifestyle differentaton were investgated deeply and with the various aspects in Kocaeli. The effect of urbanizaton on religious attudes and behaviors and the mutual effects of religion on urbanizaton and urbanizing were investgated the workers, who were selected from around Kocaeli and were capable of representng Kocaeli, with theoretcal and empirical level. Urbanizaton expresses not only a change in the process of social and economic insttutons, but also implies a cultural change. In this respect, the urban life leads to a number of changes in traditonal systems of thought. Religion is one of those areas of cultural change. In the study, it was identfed that the urbanizaton brought about a number of changes on religious beliefs, behaviours and practces. Although the religion becomes distanced from social life at the urban area in general, it contnuous its existence of the private environment of individuals.
