Abstract

Ebû Dâvud et-Tayâlisî is a hafz of hadith who lived in the second century of the hegira and had a müsned. Being accepted by the authorites of hadiths in the era when he lived, he was a great muhaddith described as “the mountain of wisdom”. These are important to present his scholarly personality that he made the hadiths dictated by heart and conveyed through debates, Since he so much relied on his memory, he narrated by heart in general. It was claimed that he made mistakes in hadiths because he did not narrate based on the writen text. Whereas mistakes, much less in number, were accepted enough to consider a haidth narrator to be weak, no one judged et-Tayâlisî himself, but Yunus b. Habib who was his tudent listening to him in the councils of dictaton. There are charters which display their writer’s identtes.
