Abstract

Concept is a general noton or opinion that might be applied to many things and that is expressed by general words. Philosophy and other disciplines are dealt with concepts such as reality, meaning, man, mind, form, reason, essence, cause, object, mater, moton, space, tme, and their logical relatons. Concept is one of the oldest and ambiguous term in the philosophical traditon. The reason for this situaton is the different needs of variaous approaches. In partcular, the new discipline emerged in the last century have also made this need obvious. In this context, it is possible that to discuss the idea of concepts in different ways especially with these ways: The Ontology (Mental Representatons and Abilites), the structure (the Classical Theory, the Prototype Theory, the Theory Theory and Conceptual Atomism), Empiricism, Realism, and Language. In this artcle we'll discuss those issues that have been mentoned above. We also touched on the views of major philosophers in the history of philosophy. Our goal is to provide inclusive informaton about the idea of concept and to make a modest contributon on that subject for those who interested in.
