Abstract
Academic research and disseminaton of research fndings in different forms require ethical conduct. Authentcity, honesty, accountability and transparency are among the fundamental ethical principals that a researcher is expected to follow. This artcle examines the most common violaton of ethics in academic research that are cheatng and plagiarism. It argues that plagiarism in research and publicaton is becoming a bigger ethical threat with the availability of wide ranging sources including data bases and internet sites but on the other hand, a closer scrutny and new computer programs make it more easier to track plagiarism.
