Abstract

Tabaqats are one of the frst sources of the history of Philosophy and Islamic Philosophy. In those resource woks we searched for a commentator Alexander of Aphrodisias whose life, works and ideas. He who lived in the 2nd. century A.C., is an important in terms of Hellenistc Philosophy, Medieval Islam and Christan Philosopy. In contemporary Western philosophy Alexander’s works was translated into many languages, and was recognized as the founder of Peripathetsm traditon afer Aristotle. Alexander is very famous in the feld of pilosophy, unfortunately, is not known enough in Turkey. To resolve this not recogniton we evaluated data about him in tabaqats and especially reached a broad knowledge relaton to his works.
