PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT
MANUSCRIPT ACCEPTANCE AND EVALUATION PROCESS
In Journal of Social Sciences, original studies, translations, research notes, book and thesis evaluations, edition critiques, and studies like that within the scope of Social Sciences are published. Manuscripts to be sent to the Journal of Social Sciences is required to be original manuscripts that fills a gap in the field or a review that evaluates previously published studies and presents new and remarkable views on this subject.
All scientific and legal responsibilities of the manuscripts published in the journal belong to the authors. The subjects that the manuscripts center on both in terms of content and ideas are related to the academic attitude and opinion of the author, and it cannot be associated with the publication policies of the journal. Journal of Social Sciences does not accept any liability.
If the article is derived from the thesis or the symposium paper, this should be indicated by giving footnote to the article title. i.e., This study is derived from the master’s / doctoral thesis titled ………… which was approved by the Institute of ……….. on ………...
Manuscripts to be published in the Journal of Social Sciences must not have been previously published or must not be in the evaluation process of other publication. Papers that were previously presented at a scientific meeting can be accepted, provided this is clearly stated.
A maximum of one work by the same author can be published in any issue.
Manuscripts sent to the journal are first reviewed by the Editorial Board in terms of compliance with journal principles. Manuscripts that do not comply with the Publication Principles of the Journal of Social Sciences will not be evaluated.
Those who want to submit a manuscript for publication to the Journal of Social Sciences must become a member as an author or author/referee from the “New User” section at www.toplumbilimleri.com. It is important for the authors to pay attention to the name-surname spelling rules, since the name used in the membership will be automatically added by the system during the publication phase (e.g., Emrah YAVUZ). It is important to fill in the requested information completely when signing up for the Journal of Social Sciences as a writer or reviewer. In the field title, the author’s work and interests should be listed. e.g., Theology/Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies/Department of Religious Sciences (Sociology of Religion).
Authors whose membership is approved by the editor should upload their manuscripts to the system from the “Manuscript Submission System” or “Submit New Article” section. Uploading the manuscript to the journal online system is accepted as an application.
Articles added to the system of the Journal of Social Sciences should not include the author’s name, surname, title, and institution information, or any reference revealing the identity of the author. Articles should not include headers, footers, and page numbers. In the final version of the manuscripts whose review process have been completed and accepted for publication, information about the authors is added with the cooperation of the authors and the editorial board, based on the “Article Cover Template” sent to the authors at the publication stage.
All processes, from the application to the publication of the article, are carried out electronically.
In the Journal of Social Sciences, the following processes take place after the manuscript is uploaded to the system by the author:
Control of the uploaded manuscript in terms of publication policy, writing rules, scientific content and form is carried out by the editor/assistant editor. Academic objectivity and scientific quality are the most important criteria in the evaluation of manuscripts. As a result of the evaluation, if there are corrections to be made, the manuscript is returned to the author by requesting correction. Manuscript is sent to the reviewers after the approval of the editor. Manuscripts that do not comply with the writing principles will not be sent to the reviewers.
The reviewers determined for the manuscripts in the evaluation process are selected from among those who have expertise in the field and department directly related to the manuscript. Manuscripts that are uploaded to the system for publication are subject to double-blind peer-review evaluation by at least two reviewers. For this reason, the names of the reviewers are not published, and the reports are kept for 5 years. Authors and reviewers should take care keeping their identities confidential. For this purpose, persons such as authors, editors and reviewers who send files to the system should pay attention to the following points regarding the text and files:
Article Processing Charge
Tax, design, promotion of the articles to international indexes, and purchase of the DOI number are done by Asos Eğitim Bilişim Danışmanlık. The manuscript submitted to the Journal of Social Sciences requires a deposit of 400 TRY in order to be initiated the reviewer process.
This fee is paid before the start of the reviewer process, according to the information message sent by the journal after the manuscript submission to the system by the author. After the processing fee is paid, the receipts from the authors are examined by the journal management, and the reviewer process is started accordingly. Fees paid for manuscripts that fail the reviewer process (cannot be published) will not be refunded.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
The publication processes adopted by the Journal of Social Sciences form the basis for the development and distribution of information in an objective and respectful manner. The processes implemented in this direction are directly reflected in the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support the authors.
Ethics Committee Permission
Ethics Committee Permission is required since January 2022 and articles that do not receive Ethics Committee Permission will not be accepted. In studies that require ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be added at the end of the article as follows “Ethics committee approval of this article was taken from ............. (Name of the committee), with ....... (Date), ......... (Number).” In case reports, information about the informed voluntary consent/consent form being signed should be included within the method section of the article.

The ethical duties and responsibilities listed below have been prepared, considering the guidelines and policies published as open access by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Our journal’s publication ethics are based on publication ethics presented by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
Peer-reviewed studies embody and support the scientific method. At this point, it is important that all participants of the process (authors, readers, researchers, publisher, reviewers, and editors) comply with the standards for ethical principles. The Journal of Social Sciences expects all stakeholders to bear the following ethical responsibilities within the scope of publication ethics.

COMPLAINTS AND ALLEGATIONS
When the reader notices an important error or inaccuracy in an article published in the Journal of Social Sciences or has any criticisms about the editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.), they can make a complaint by sending an e-mail to the address toplumbilimleridergisi@gmail.com. We welcome complaints as they provide an opportunity for us to improve, and we aim to respond quickly and constructively. Journal of Social Sciences aims to solve the complaints and appeals according to the principles of COPE.
PLAGIARISM DETECTION
All of the studies submitted to the Journal of Social Sciences and passed the editorial control are checked by the Advanced Plagiarism Detection Software intihal.net (http://intihal.net/) before being sent to the reviewer. A maximum similarity rate of 25% is accepted in the plagiarism report.
Authors submitting articles to the Journal of Social Sciences are deemed to have declared that they have not committed any ethical violation. The works of authors who are found to have plagiarized are not included in our Journal. Authors can access the report by clicking on the similarity ratio on the system.
PUBLICATION PERIOD
Journal of Social Sciences is an international-indexed peer-reviewed journal published biannually (30 June - 31 December), except special and additional issues.
PUBLICATION LANGUAGE
The publication language of the Journal of Social Sciences is Turkish. However, manuscripts in English and Arabic can be included in the Journal of Social Sciences, not exceeding one third of each issue. Manuscripts sent in other languages can also be published with the approval of the Editorial Board. In Arabic articles, a reference list in Roman script should also be included.
CITATION AND REFERENCE SYSTEM
Journal of Social Sciences requires APA 7 to be used in citation and bibliography.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
Journal of Social Sciences provides instant open access to its content. All the content published in the Journal of Social Sciences is open to the access of not only academic institutions and organizations, but also to anyone with internet access. With the open access policy, it is aimed that the published articles and studies contribute to the development of science and scientific method, and that everyone can access scientific information easily and without paying any fee.
ARCHIVING
Articles and manuscripts sent to the Journal of Social Sciences and information and documents belong to them are kept indefinitely for archiving under the supervision of the journal management.
COPYRIGHT
Manuscripts to be published in the Journal of Social Sciences must not have been previously published or must not be in the evaluation process of other publication.
Authors whose manuscripts are published in the Journal of Social Sciences own the copyright of their manuscripts. Manuscripts published in the journal are licensed under Creative Commons — Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International — CC BY-NC 4.0). The CC BY-NC 4.0 license permits the sharing, adaptation, copying and reproduction of the work for non-commercial use, provided that appropriate attribution is made to the original work.
