Abstract
Natural disasters affect human beings very deeply and compel them to reorganise their lives and attudes. That is, those people who experience such incidents actvate their dynamics of personal and social identtes and reshape them in a different way. In this respect, this study examines psychological and sociological effects of the Van earthquake which occurred in 2011. The empirical data was analyzed according to sociological and psychological approaches. Having studied the results of the Van earthquake, the present study not only indicated how human beings in general undergo psycho-social processes afer the event but also explored these processes as for psychological and sociological perspectves. In this way, the study enabled us to have a look at the consequences of natural disasters in a more comprehensive way.
