Abstract
Modernleşme Sürecinde Yaşlılık adlı bu makalede yaşlılık ve yaşlanma sosyolojik yaklaşımla; toplumsal, kültürel, dini boyutlarıyla ve toplumsal kurumlar açı- sından ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışmada bütünsel, seçici, açıklayıcı ve çok yönlü bir yaklaşım tercih edilmekte; dökümantasyon yönteminden yararlanılmaktadır. Modernleşme sürecinde toplumumuzda pek çok açıdan toplumsal değişim görülmektedir. Toplumumuzdaki herkes gibi yaşlılar da bu toplumsal değişimlerden etkilenmektedir. Ayrıca hem dünyada hem ülkemizde toplumsal yaşlanma ve ortalama yaşam beklentisi artmaktadır. Bu nedenle yaşlılarımızın sorunlarına ve beklentilerine yönelik çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır. Kısacası bu çalışmada modernleşme sürecinde toplumumuzdaki değişimlerin yaşlılık ve yaşlanma sü- recine etkisi, yaşlılıktaki yapısal değişim ve toplumumuzdaki özellikle yaşlılara yönelik kurumsallaşma ihtiyacı sosyolojik bir yaklaşımla ele alınmaktır.

Abstract
In this artcle, named ‘Elderness in The Modernizaton Process’, elderness and ageing are taken into consideraton in a sociological perspectve; from social, cultural and religious dimensions and in terms of social insttutons. In this study, a holistc, eclectc, explanatory and multdimensional approach is preferred and the documentaton method is used. There have been social changes from many dimensions in our society in the modernizaton process. Elderly people are also affected from these social changes like everybody in our society. In additon, populaton ageing and average life expectancy are increasing both in the world and in our country. So there is need to study about the problems and the expectatons of our elderly people. In short, the effect of changes in our society in the modernizaton process, to the process of elderness and ageing; the structural change in elderness and the need of insttutonalisaton -especially to the elderly people- in our society are taken into consideraton in a sociological approach in this study.
