Abstract
Genel anlamda mahremiyet, mekân mahremiyet, kişisel mahremiyet ve bilgi mahremiyet olmak üzere üç ana başlık altında incelenmektedir. Tarih boyunca bireyler ve toplumlar kültürel farklılıklarına rağmen mahremiyetlerini korumak için mücadele etmiş ve mahremiyetlerine yönelen saldırılar karşısında da kendilerini savunmuşlardır. Bireyselliğin arttığı günümüz toplumlarında ise özel yaşam alanları konusundaki hassasiyetin artması sonucu kişisel verilerin işlenmesi ve korunması devletler tarafından hukuki güvence altına alınırken diğer yandan da teknolojik gelişmeler ve sosyal hayattaki değişimler sonucu bireylere ait mahremiyet alanı ve sınırları da daralmaktadır. Sinema ve televizyonun başrol oynadığı gösteri çağında birey ve topluma ait mahremiyetin koruyucu zırhı kitle iletişim araçları aracılığıyla kaldırıldı. Günü- müz gelişen ve yaygınlaşan bilgi işleme teknolojisi ile bireyler her an ve her yerde zaman ve mekân sınırlaması olmaksızın internet kullanarak kendilerine ait mahremiyet unsurlarını sanal ortamda gönüllü olarak paylaşmakta ve ifşa etmektedirler. Bu çalışmada kişisel verilerin sanal ortamda yer alması ve payla- şılması bağlamında sanal mahremiyet incelenmiştir.

Abstract
In general, the issue of privacy is examined within three main headlines; space privacy, personal privacy and informaton privacy. Throughout history, despite their cultural differences individuals and communites have struggled to maintain their privacy, and have defended themselves against the atacks directed to their privacy. In today's society, in which individualism has been increasing, as a result of the growing sensitveness about privacy the personal data record and its protecton is controlled by the state. On the other hand as a result of the technological developments and changes in the social life, the boundaries of individual privacy are narrowed. In the era of vision where movie theatres and TVs play main role, the protectve shield of privacy of the individual and society has been damaged through the mass media. Individuals, with today's evolving and spreading of informaton process technology, use internet anytme and anywhere without the restrictons of tme and space and shares their privacy voluntarily. This study examines the virtual privacy within the context of keeping and sharing personal data in the virtual environment.
