Abstract

Among the past, the present and the future, there exists contnuity along with a connecton of cultural belonging with all its elements like history, language and etc. in the formaton and transfer process of the cultural memory of a society. Not only had numerous Turkish tribes lived in the Balkans, but also Turkish States ruled in the geography. This is why, now, collectve memory codes of the Balkan communites and the Anatolian people stand out in an integrated form with many cultural elements from the past to the present. Cultural interacton came about in all areas from architecture to daily life, from cooking to entertainment culture, literature and faith especially during the tme of Otoman sovereignty. This study makes an analysis of the socio-cultural memory codes of the Balkans under a perspectve of literary sociology by taking samples of ballads from the Balkan geography within the framework of theoretcal base mentoned above. For this purpose, the songs evaluated have been sorted out in terms of the cultural themes they include. You will also fnd occasional comparisons of them with Anatolian ballads in order to emphasize common themes, elements and diversifed features. In this study the cultural and religious codes of the Balkans that are common to the Anatolian Turkish culture will be identfed with their aspects reflected in the ballads.
