Abstract
This artcle focuses on the signifcance of science and educaton systems in
terms of bringing in an effectve and lastng understanding of science, which is
the beginning of the notons that consttute the basic philosophy of the reform
studies carried out in the feld of educaton in the world and Turkey in recent
years, in the light of the scientfc literacy theme. It also mentons some of the
determinatons and evaluatons of how the nature of science can be taught to
students during the teaching of science subjects. In this context, considering the
numerical data of some researches of the last few years which provide detailed
analysis of the subject, it can be seen that some developments are recorded in
Turkey compared to the previous periods, especially in science courses, where
understanding of science literacy and nature of science is given to students, It
should nevertheless be stated that the level of academic achievement is not at
a sufcient level in terms of the point reached
