Abstract

The sicnifcant and risk dimensions of child labour that is triggered by globalizaton have increased in the process of economic and cultural fluctuatons. Despite great efforts made by governments in order to eliminate child labour in the leadership of ILO from 1992 onwards, it stll remains as a threat all over the world for the future of the underdeveloped and developing countries. It is observed that working children is increasingly involved in crimes, in partcular drug addicton, due to socio-psychological problems. As in all other countries in the word, a great many working children in Turkey are exposed to physical abuse, psychological abuse and so on. In Turkey which partcipated in the program of ILO/IPEC, some successful projects were carried out in coordinaton with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security within the framework of IPEC project to struggle against child labor. According to researches,children working in industry have experienced considerable amount of personal development and psychological development problems compared to those working in the streets, agriculture and informal sector exct. In the formaton of these negatve fndings, there are such problems as the collapse of moral values, empathy and so on. Turkey’s case is special in this use since the most important risk cause of child labor at industry is that the businesses children work are small ones and the infrastructure of them are not adequate and labor force training levels are also low. In this sense, the current study aims at informing about child labor both in the world and in Turkey, and investgatng the risks with regard to sociopsychological and personal developments children working at industry expose to by putng ways of solutons with the importance of empathy.
