Abstract

It is known that there is ongoing sociological debate on basic characteristcs of today’s societes. Such a debate aims at comprehending the “soul of the age” through the concepts of modernity, post-modernity, globalizaton and secularism which are known as meta narratves. It is certain that since there are visible, signifcant differences among societes and even in the same society, no single concepts cannot reveal social relatonships or social reality. Each concept defne various aspects of the social reality. Therefore, a social scientst may employ differen perspectves to contribute to these theoretcal orientatons. It can be argued that these concepts that are discussed and studied in several social science disciplines defne certain relatonships that are also signifcant study topics for the sociology of religion
